What are new gTLDs?

ICANN has released more than 700 new gTLDs (generic Top Level Domains) as part of its New gTLD Program, to counter namepool shrinkage, language and other limitations. This marks the beginning of the largest-ever expansion of the Domain Name System. New gTLDs will make way for thousands of new domain extensions including commonly used terms like .shop .recipe, .construction, .photography, .club etc, which will give domain name buyers the option to choose from thousands of relevant, targeted domain extensions.
